Time & expenses

The Time & Expenses page is a calendar where you log your work. It has two tabs — Time and Expenses — sharing the same day view. This page covers time entries; see Expenses for the other tab.

Viewing the calendar

  • Switch between month and week views (week is the default on smaller screens).
  • Each day shows its time entries (and expenses on the Expenses tab).
  • Use the date controls to move between periods.

Adding a time entry

  1. On the Time tab, tap + / Add on a day (or tap the day).
  2. Fill in the dialog:

DateDefaults to the day you tapped.
ClientWho the work was for.
HoursTime worked. If the client has a schedule, this pre-fills with the scheduled hours for that day.
Bill rateDefaults to the client's default rate; change it for this entry if needed.
DescriptionWhat you did.
Apply to goals(New entries only) Funds your goals from this entry. On by default; appears when you have goals with a contribution percentage.
  1. Tap Save.

Editing a time entry

Tap an entry to reopen it, make changes, and Save.

Entries on an invoice are locked

Once an entry has been added to an invoice it's locked and shows which invoice it's on. To change it, first remove it from the invoice (on the invoice detail page), which returns the entry to editable/unbilled.

Editing doesn't change goals

The Apply to goals option only appears for new entries. Editing an existing entry never adjusts your goal totals — reconcile a goal directly if needed (see Goals & Obligations).

Entry status

Each entry is either:

  • Unused — not yet billed; free to edit or add to an invoice.
  • Applied — included on an invoice (shows the invoice label).

Archiving

Archive an entry you don't need with Archive; it's kept and can be restored or permanently deleted later. See Archiving & deleting.
